The Open Group Releases TETware Professional Software Test Framework
New Product enhances existing TETware capabilitiesMenlo Park, CA. 11 September 2000 - The Open Group announced today the release of TETware professional. This enhanced version of the TETware software test framework offers the opportunity for customers to significantly increase the productivity of their software testing teams. TETware professional is a multi-platform uniform test scaffold, into which non-distributed and distributed test suites can be incorporated. It has a graphical user interface (GUI) written in Java, and supports testing on UNIX® operating systems, Windows® NT, Windows 2000, Windows 9x, and Java.
TETware professional also includes a Report Writer and an automatic installation mechanism to make the installation and use of TETware easier than from the command-line interface.
"Testing is essential to ensure conformance and interoperability of today's complex IT products and systems," said Allen Brown, President and CEO of The Open Group. "TETware professional enables vendors to improve product quality, reduce the cost of testing and get products to market more quickly."
"The TETware professional GUI significantly changes the framework concept by introducing the "Test Run", a logical unit that encompasses all the data needed to ensure that a suite of test cases can be executed successfully," said James deRaeve, Vice President, Certification & Testing of The Open Group. "Test Runs virtually guarantee the successful execution of a test suite as all configuration variables are set within the GUI."
The Test Run can also be stored and reused later without having to remember each variable and where it should be placed.
TETware professional can trace its roots back to the Test Environment Toolkit (TET) specification in 1989. The supported release of TET, known as TETware, was first released in 1996.
